Our favorite foster & adoption books:
Reframing Foster Care
by: Jason Johnson
“It’s about our desire to see good come out of bad. Our willingness to embrace what is broken and do whatever it takes to bring healing. That’s why we do what we do. It has to be.”
I only wish I had read this book when we began foster care! In my opinion, it should be a required read for all foster parents.
The purpose of this book is not to teach you how to become a foster parent or how to care for children from hard places. Instead, it will change your perspective on foster care and our role in the “system.”

Foster the Family
by: Jamie Finn
“And so it’s up to us to redo what was left undone. To 'baby’ the child who wasn’t babied, to step in with comfort and nurture, and to make sure they know - in their hearts, bodies, and brains - that they are safe and loved.”
I have looked forward to this book by Jamie Finn for many years. When my husband and I first started our foster journey, I ran across Jamie and Foster the Family on Instagram. I immediately felt validated in my struggles, feelings, and new reality as a foster parent by Jamie as she is the most open and honest person I have found on Instagram. I knew when she wrote this book, it would be the same.
